From the author of Dancing at Lughnasa, this modern masterpiece is set in Donegal in 1833. British soldiers arrive in the peaceful town of Baille Beag to map the countryside and to translate the place names from their native Irish into English. When a local girl falls in love with a soldier, events are unleashed that mean that ‘Bally Beg’ will never be the same again.
